Your Options Following the Hejaz Islamic Division Closure
We have received many questions from Hejaz members following the Significant Event Notice (SEN) announcing the closure of the Hejaz Islamic Division. This page explains what the changes mean, the options available and the steps you may need to take.
If you have a Hejaz Islamic Super or Hejaz Islamic Pension account, through the Fund Hejaz Islamic Division, you will need to decide where your future contributions are paid and where your existing balance is transferred.
To help you understand your options, we have brought together the important deadlines and practical steps you may need to take.
Important Deadlines:
30 September 2026
Hejaz Islamic Super will stop accepting employer, salary-sacrifice, personal and rollover contributions from this date. This means you will need to open a new superannuation account and give the details of this new superannuation account to your employer as soon as possible.
10 October 2026
You will receive an initial payment to your new superannuation account on, or around, this date. The initial payment will depend on the investment option you have chosen. Visit the Hejaz member portal to find out what percentage your initial payment will be.
12 October 2026
This is the last chance you have to advise Hejaz of your new superannuation account details. If Hejaz doesn’t receive your new superannuation account details by this date your balance will be transferred to the ATO.
End of February 2027
It is expected that your remaining balance will be paid to your new superannuation fund by this date.

Step 2
Redirect your future contributions
Once your new account is open, provide your employer with your membership number, the fund’s compliance letter and a completed choice-of-fund form.

Step 3
Nominate a fund to receive your Hejaz balance
Ask your new fund to initiate a rollover or submit the required transfer instruction directly to Hejaz.
Hejaz must receive your instructions by 12 October 2026, to avoid your superannuation benefit being transferred to the ATO.
Step 4
Check your insurance and any other benefits before transferring
Changing super funds may affect any life, total and permanent disability or income-protection insurance you hold through Hejaz.
Check your existing cover and confirm what replacement cover is available before it ends.
Step 5
Check your myGov account
You can use the ATO online services through your myGov account at any time to check for any super the ATO may be holding for you (including from Hejaz) or that may be held by other funds.
You can also use this service to rollover any amounts to your nominated fund.
Answers to Your Questions
Others frequently ask...-
You should consider opening another super account, redirecting future employer and personal contributions, and completing the relevant process to rollover your Hejaz balance to your new fund. You should also check how changing funds may affect any insurance you hold through Hejaz.
-
Hejaz will stop accepting contributions and transfers from 30 September 2026. Hejaz must receive your instructions nominating a receiving fund by 12 October 2026 if you do not want your benefit transferred to the ATO.
-
No. The Significant Event Notice says benefits are expected to be transferred in two transactions, an initial transfer in October 2026 and a final transfer around February 2027. The amounts and timing may change. Visit the Hejaz member portal to find out more details about your payments.

Your benefit will be transferred to the ATO. However, your super is not lost if this happens. You will be able to use ATO online services through myGov to nominate another fund to receive this ATO-held super. Importantly, if your super is transferred to the ATO it may no longer be Shariah compliant.
-
Any insurance cover connected to your Hejaz account may end when the account closes or if there is not enough money remaining to pay the premiums. Before transferring, check your current cover and whether you can obtain suitable replacement cover through another fund or an insurer.
